Vinyl 2010
Vinyl 2010 is the formal industry body set up by the plastics sector to research, promote and support the adoption of best environmental practice and sustainable development. Most of the industry’s leading companies, including Dekura, are signatories to Vinyl 2010’s voluntary charter, which sets out challenging standards and targets for the industry.
The organisation is working closely with the European Commission, national governments and local authorities to draft and / or develop environmental legislation for the industry.
Key objectives include greater regulation of waste management, the promotion of recycling, the research and development of new, greener production technologies and the replacement of harmful substances, such as lead stabilisers, which are used in PVC-U manufacture.
Our Commitment To Sustainability
At Warwick Glass we make every effort to minimise the impact our business has on the environment. We work hand in hand with our manufacturer to achieve a commitment to the integration of economic, social and environmental factors in all elements of the business, from raw materials and manufacturing to installation and recycling.
Our supplier, Sierra, recycle all post manufacturing waste and at Warwick Glass we recycle all post consumer waste; every old PVC-U window we remove is recycled by Dekura instead of being sent to landfill. Dekura is a major PVC-U recycling organisation with national operations covering the UK and several other European countries. All products are recycled at the end of their life and the materials are used in other PVC-U building products making this closed loop fully sustainable.
Energy efficient windows

Recent tests comparing a 15 year old window and a new window show they are now 55% more efficient and that makes a massive difference to the thermal efficiency of homes. With old single glazed windows up to 30% of heat could be going right out of the window along with all that extra money being spent on heating. This in turn uses more resources hence having a big impact on the environment. Even old double glazed windows are significantly less efficient than new ones.
At Warwick Glass we offer A and C rated windows which during their lifetime could save you up to £6580 and well as saving 60 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
