The RAL Colour System
The RAL colour system is actually a series of systems used to match colours, predominantly in paint, varnish and powder coating. It’s the most popular colour standard used in Europe.
The system originated in Germany in 1927 and established a common language for colour. It began with 40 standard colours but now encompasses over 1,898. It is used in architecture, construction, industry and road safety.
Each colour has a four digit number that identifies the exact hue, shade and colour. The colours in this chart may vary depending on your monitor or printer, therefore they are only representations. Please visit our showroom to see the exact colour on an offical RAL swatch.
