Warwick Glass helped BBC's DIY SOS by supplying vital windows and doors for a heartmoving housebuild in December to allow a local Bidford-on-Avon family to care for their teenage daughter at home. It was one of DIY SOS's biggest projects to date as the downstairs of the property had to be converted to allow wheelchair access throughout.
Chloe, 20, has a list of illnesses, that culminate in her being wheel chair bound, with constant pain. BBC1's DIY SOS team answered appeals from friends of the family for help to build a downstairs bedroom, wet room, hoist system and sterile medical area allowing the space and facilities to meet the round-the-clock care Chloe needs.
Warwick Glass supplied high security A-rated French doors with no threshold to allow Chloe wheelchair access throughout this new area, including her new purpose designed garden so Chloe can still look after her rabbits. We also supplied A-rated windows that open from the bottom so they are easily accessible for Chloe to operate. All of the changes made for Chloe and her family mean they have a secure and safe living space to aid Chloe's independence and improve their quality of life.
Members of the Warwick Glass team fitted the new windows and doors but also helped with other jobs late into the night during the Big Build to help the DIY SOS team achieve the quick turn around required. We also attended the Big Reveal and were lucky enough to get our photos taken with Chloe and the DIY SOS crew.
